eBay lets you attach product safety documents to a listing. Here is what belongs in them, and what eBay will not accept as a substitute.
eBay allows several product-safety documents to be attached per listing, in common formats and in multiple languages. The slots are genuinely useful, and they are also the reason many sellers believe the obligation is discharged once something has been uploaded.
Uploading the wrong document is not better than uploading nothing. A file that does not answer the question creates a record showing you were asked and responded with something irrelevant.
The most common upload is whatever certificate the supplier provided. A CE declaration evidences conformity with the specific legislation it names — it is one input to a technical file and it is not the file, and it does not contain the instructions and warnings a safety-information request is asking for.
If your supplier has given you a single PDF and you have attached it to every slot, that is worth revisiting before somebody asks.
The documents you attach to a listing are the visible layer. Article 9 requires you to hold the full technical file behind it and produce it on request — attachments do not replace it.
A business seller on eBay.co.uk shipping to Northern Ireland is placing goods on the EU single market for these purposes, which brings the Responsible Person and technical-file duties with it.
Sellers who consider themselves purely domestic are frequently in scope without realising, because the order looks and ships like any other UK order.
eBay sellers shipping into the EU and Northern Ireland from outside the EU, including business sellers on eBay.co.uk who take Northern Ireland orders. You appoint your own Responsible Person; we assemble the evidence file from documents you already hold.
