TikTok Shop requires product safety compliance for EU sales. Almost nobody has written down what that means in practice — this does.
TikTok Shop rewards moving fast: a product goes viral, volume arrives within days, and the catalogue grows faster than anyone can gather supplier documentation for it. That is a commercial strength and a compliance weakness at the same time.
Sellers on slower marketplaces typically add products one at a time with some paperwork attached. A TikTok seller can be shipping thousands of units of something they sourced three weeks ago and have never seen a test report for.
The exposure scales with the success of the product. The item that sells best is usually the one sourced fastest, with the thinnest documentation behind it.
GPSR applies to the sale of consumer products into the EU regardless of channel. You need an EU-established Responsible Person named and contactable, the required information shown on the listing, and technical documentation held and producible on request.
None of that is specific to TikTok. What is specific is that the fast-moving catalogue makes the third item — holding the documentation — the one most likely to be missing when it is requested.
If you sell a generic product under your own branding, you are likely the manufacturer for these purposes even though you did not make it. That places the documentation duty on you rather than on the factory.
A supplier who will not provide test reports is a real commercial problem rather than an administrative one, and it is better discovered through a gap report now than through an authority request later. For genuinely undocumented stock, the honest answer is sometimes to stop selling it into the EU.
TikTok Shop sellers shipping physical goods into the EU and Northern Ireland, including sellers who scaled quickly from a viral product and are now carrying a catalogue assembled faster than its paperwork.
